Telegram Mini Apps 2026: store and sales funnel directly in the messenger

How to build a store, quiz or funnel inside Telegram via Mini Apps in 2026: what does it give in terms of conversion versus external landing, how much does development cost, how to accept payments through Stars and cards, what analytics.

Once every couple of weeks the founder writes to me: “I have a bot, there are not enough applications, what should I do?” In half the cases, the correct answer is not to develop the bot, but to build a Telegram Mini App. Not “a Telegram app for the sake of hype,” but a specific scenario: a store, an appointment, a quiz or a personal account right in the messenger window. Below I will explain how the Mini App differs from a bot, why the conversion rate is higher than the external landing page, how payment works there, how much it costs - and where the Mini App is definitely not needed.

I have been in digital for 9 years and have worked with Telegram as a channel for content and applications. The NEMIFIST channel has grown to 50 thousand subscribers; a separate Senler funnel collected 1,022 leads at 12.56 rubles. This case shows the importance of a measurable next step after subscription, but does not prove the effectiveness of the Mini App: this is a separate hypothesis that needs to be tested in its own funnel.

Mini App is not a “prettier bot”. This is your landing page without going to the browser and without someone else’s payment window. The main misunderstanding: they think that this is about design. It’s more correct to think that this is about removed friction.

1. What is a Mini App and how is it different from a bot?

Telegram Mini App is a web application that opens inside Telegram using a button. Technically it is HTML, CSS and JS wrapped in the Telegram Web Apps SDK. It differs from a regular website in that it knows who opened it (Telegram gives the user’s ID and basic data), can adapt to the theme of the messenger and trigger built-in payment.

The difference with a bot is simple. The bot lives in the chat: messages, commands, buttons under the text. This is convenient for notifications, linear surveys, and mailings. But as soon as you need a catalog with 150 items, a shopping cart, filters or a personal account, the correspondence breaks down. It is impossible to scroll through products using messages. Mini App provides a normal interface: screens, scrolling, forms, animation.

In practice, they are not opposed, but connected. Bot is a transport for messages and an entry point, Mini App is an interface. I wrote in detail about auto funnels on bots in separate material about bot marketing - there is the logic of mailings and warming up, here - about the showcase and payment.

2. Why conversion is higher than external landing page

The main reason is there is no transition. When you lead a person from a Telegram post to an external site, a redirect is triggered: a new tab, loading, sometimes a warning “you are leaving Telegram.” At this step, 20-40% of traffic is lost, and it is lost silently - in analytics you see the click, but you don’t see the one who didn’t get there.

Mini App opens in the same window in a split second. The user is already logged in, the name and sometimes the phone number are automatically pulled up, it’s shorter to fill out the form. Payment takes place in two taps, without entering a card on someone else’s page. Each of these factors individually adds interest, but together - a noticeable shift.

On the projects that I saw and collected, the conversion from a click to an application inside the Mini App was 15–35% higher than the external landing page. This is not a “magic application” - it is friction removed. The same logic as in regular landing optimization: fewer screens and redirects to the target action - higher conversion. I take it apart landing page conversion checklist, and Mini App simply takes it to the limit inside the messenger.

3. How to accept payments inside Telegram

There are two working methods, and the choice depends on what you are selling.

Telegram Stars is Telegram’s internal currency for digital goods, subscriptions and in-app access. The user buys Stars once and spends them in any bots and Mini App. The payment takes place in one tap, without entering a card. Telegram retains a commission, withdrawals go through the designated provider. Stars are convenient for content, channel subscriptions, access to closed materials - where the “product” is not physical. I have information about monetization through Stars parsing with numbers.

Regular cards through payment providers - for physical goods and services. In the Russian Federation, these are YuKassa, Tinkoff and other gateways that connect to the Mini App in the same way as to the website. The money goes to your current account, the provider’s commission is usually 2.5–3.5%. Here you do not share with Telegram, but pay for acquiring and are responsible for the receipt under 54-FZ. The rule that I use myself: digital and access - Stars, physics and services - cards.

4. Cost and timing: designer versus custom

The price varies by an order of magnitude depending on how complex your logic is. Designers and SaaS solutions assemble a standard store or post in a couple of days with almost no code. Custom development is needed when there is a non-standard catalog, integration with CRM, warehouse, or your own loyalty system.

ParameterConstructor / SaaSCustom development
Start cost0–15,000 ₽/month150 000–600 000 ₽
Launch date1–3 days3–8 weeks
Catalog and filterstemplateany
Integration with CRMvia ready-made connectorsfor any system
Who is it suitable for?hypothesis test, simple storeturnover, complex logic

My advice is to almost always start with a constructor. You put together a Mini App in an evening, drive the first traffic from the channel to it, and see the conversion. If the script comes up and runs into the limitations of the template, then you order a custom one for a specific bottleneck. Paying 400K for an application before the hypothesis has been tested is burning the budget for a beautiful wrapper.

5. Types of Mini App and for what business

Not every business needs the same type of application. Before calculating the budget, decide on the main scenario - there is only one, the rest will be added later.

Mini App TypeFor what business?Main metric
Store / cataloge-com, local products, merchconversion to order
Sign up for a servicesalons, clinics, mastersshare of closed slots
Quiz/selectionservices, b2b leadgen, expensive productCPL, lead quality
Personal accountsubscriptions, clubs, trainingretention, renewals
Funnel / warming upinformation product, launchesconversion to purchase

Recording is the most underrated type. The salon or master usually sends the client to a third-party recording service, and then there’s a new registration and it’s gone. A Mini App with a schedule directly in Telegram closes the slot in three taps. The quiz is good for expensive services: instead of “leave a request,” a person is selected, and you get a warm lead with context, and not a bare phone number.

6. Analytics inside the Mini App

Mini App is not indexed by search engines and does not display data in standard pixels in the same way as a website. Therefore, analytics is built on its own backend: every significant action - opening, quiz step, adding to cart, payment - is sent as an event to its own database, and the funnel is assembled there.

What Telegram itself provides is a launch source. The parameter in the button shows which post, advertisement or channel the person came from. On custom apps, I save this source along with the ID and build attribution: what content brings paying people, not just opens. Without this, the Mini App turns into a black box - applications come in, but it’s unclear where they come from.

I discuss the monetization of the channel itself, which feeds the application with traffic, separately - in materials about channel monetization and about how in general run a Telegram channel in 2026. Mini App is a conversion layer on top of the channel, not a content replacement.

7. Where Mini App is not needed

This is not justified everywhere, and an honest marketer will tell you “don’t” when it’s not necessary.

One product and one “buy” button - a bot or a post with payment via Stars is enough here, there is no need to block the application. SEO traffic from Yandex and Google - Mini App are not indexed; for organic traffic, an external website is required. There is no audience in Telegram - driving cold traffic from the context directly to the Mini App is more expensive than to the usual landing page, because the person is not yet in the messenger and must first be brought there.

Mini App is strong where you already have a warm audience in Telegram and the scenario is more complex than one button. Catalog, record, selection, office. If this is not the case, start with a channel and a bot, and add an application when you hit the ceiling of correspondence.

Conclusion

Mini App does not replace the website and does not replace the bot - it removes the transition and takes the payment inside Telegram. The start is almost always cheap: a designer in the evening, the first traffic from the channel, conversion measurement. Custom - only when the hypothesis is confirmed and the template works. And don’t create an app for just one product or for SEO traffic: there it will lose out to a regular landing page.

If you already have a channel or bot, but applications are difficult to come by, write to me on Telegram t.me/dipustovalov or leave a request via form. During the call, we will analyze your scenario, estimate the type of Mini App and the real budget for it. Starting consultation - 0 ₽.
