Advertising creatives in 2026: formats, A/B tests and AI generation for VK and TG

Creative dies in 7-14 days in hot niches. Agencies update once a month - and lose 40-60% of efficiency. Guide to VK and TG formats, A/B testing through plan/fact, AI generation with a real prompt template.

Advertising creative is the first thing the user sees. Whether he clicks or not is decided in 0.3 seconds. At the same time, most of the offices that I audit work with one or two ad options and never change them. It's like starting a campaign and forgetting about it.

In VK Ads, creatives should be tested on comparable audiences and with the same campaign goal. Look not only at CTR, but also at the cost of a qualified lead and sale. The available EZ KATKA materials do not contain a CPL report for individual creative variants, so the exact effect of the test is not indicated here.

The VK Ads or Direct algorithm does not make bad ads good. It simply distributes the budget between the good and the bad more efficiently - and the bad quickly die.

1. Types of creatives for different tasks

There is no universal format. The choice depends on the channel, audience and task:

Static banners - work in YAN and search. Simple visual, offer, CTA. Quick to create, easy to test. Standard sizes: 240×400, 300×250, 1080×607.

Video creatives - for VK Clips, TG, stories and preroll. The first 3 seconds are critical. They should work without sound - most people watch without it. Length: 6–15 seconds for cold, up to 60 seconds for retargeting.

Carousel - for e-com and multi-product offers. In VK Ads, the carousel gives a 15–25% higher CTR than static ones when shown to a cold audience with a wide range of products.

Text and graphic blocks (TGB) - for Direct in search. The text is important here: title 56 characters + description 81 characters. The image is not shown in the search.

2. What really works in visuals

Over eight years of testing, several stable patterns have been revealed:

The specific number in the title beats the abstraction. “Delivery in 2 hours” works better than “fast delivery”. “Discount 3000 ₽” is better than “big discount”. “Already 4800 clients” is better than “thousands of satisfied customers.”

Nativity in social networks. Photos taken on a smartphone in a real environment - CTR is often higher than studio visuals. The VK algorithm ranks advertisements that “don’t hurt the eyes” as advertisements better.

Face in the frame. Ads with a real person in the frame have a 20-40% higher CTR compared to ads with a product without people. Relevant for services, B2C e-com, EdTech.

4. AI in creating creatives: what is already working

In 2026, AI tools will really speed up the production of creatives. I use three bundles:

Nano Banana Pro - static banners based on the brand book in 15–30 seconds. Suitable for A/B options: I change the text or background element, generate 5–8 versions, run a split.

Veo 3 - video creatives 5–15 seconds based on a text prompt. For e-com and B2C niches there is already sufficient quality. Cost: $0.5/second versus 15–40K rubles per video from a production studio.

Claude for texts - I generate 10–15 header options for a given offer, select the 3–5 best for testing. Saves 2-3 hours per campaign.

5. How to properly test creatives

The main rule is to change one element at a time. You can’t change the image and the title at the same time - you won’t understand what worked.

Minimum sample for output: 500–1000 impressions per option. With a budget of 3–5K ₽/day for a campaign, there is enough data in 3–5 days. Winner metric: CTR for banners, CPL for final comparison.

6. Creative burnout: when and how to change

Signs of burnout: CTR has dropped by 20–30% from peak, impression frequency has increased above 5–7 per user, CPL is growing with the same audience. This is not an algorithm problem - the audience is saturated.

A new creative does not necessarily mean a complete change in visuals. Sometimes a different headline or a change in the main offer is enough. I do a full shift every 4-6 weeks for active campaigns.
