Cold outreach in Telegram in 2026: 5 templates with a response rate of 8–15%
Cold email in the Russian Federation is dead. Cold outreach in Telegram is a working channel with a response rate of 8–15% with the correct structure. Analysis of 5 working templates: B2B audit, agency-pitch, sales-discovery, follow-up, breakup-letter. With metrics of 1200 messages sent per quarter.

Cold email died in the Russian Federation by 2024 - spam filters became too strict, the B2B audience almost stopped reading letters from unfamiliar senders. Open rate 2–5%, response 0.2–0.8%. Cold outreach on Telegram is a different story. For the quarter of 2025, I have a response rate of 11.4% for 1200 messages sent. This is a working channel for outbound in B2B 2026, but it requires a completely different structure than email.
This article is a practical analysis: how TG-outreach differs from email, what message structure works, 5 working templates with real response rates, and how to organize a sequence without burning out your personal account.
Cold outreach on Telegram in 2026 works not because the “channel is fresh.” It works because you have 1.5 seconds of the recipient's attention, and he makes the decision to “read or delete” without the opportunity to pass by.
Why TG is a better email for cold outreach 2026
- Notification = opening. Unlike email, where a letter can lie for 3 days, the recipient sees a TG message within an hour in 90%+ of cases
- There are no spam filters at the platform level. The recipient decides who to respond to. The platform does not block content
- The short format is an advantage. 100–200 characters are read in 5 seconds. An email of 200 characters looks suspiciously incomplete; TG message is normal
- Fewer “selling” signals. Email templates “Hello, I would like to suggest...” - instant delete. TG allows you to write as a friend in chat
- It's easy to continue the dialogue. If the recipient answered - no channel switching, the conversation continues in the same place
Message structure that works
Over 1200 messages sent, I developed a universal structure of 4 elements:
- Contextual anchor (1 line). Where are you from and why are you writing to this particular person. “I saw your post about...”, “Your website for the X team,” “Subscribed to your channel...”
- Narrow, specific observation (1–2 lines). What specifically did you notice about their work or product? Not the general “cool team”, but a specific detail
- Value-proposition in one phrase. What can you do for them. Specifically, without “help with marketing” - but “reduce CPL on VK Ads” or “set up attribution through Ya.Metrika”
- CTA - low barrier. Don’t “let’s call” right away. First, “can I send you an example of what I mean?” or “Do you have 5 minutes for a text discussion?”
Full message - 80–180 characters. Any longer and you lose attention. In short, it looks formulaic.
5 working templates with metrics
Template 1. B2B audit for marketing directors
Response rate: 14.2%, 280 sent
Hello [name].
I saw your post on vc.ru about [specific topic]. I agree with [one specific thought].
I conduct performance audits for teams from e-com - I usually find 1-2 channels in which 15-30% of the budget is wasted. I do this based on analysis of Ya.Metrica + advertising offices, it takes ~2 hours.
We have 5 minutes for a short discussion, do you have such a situation?
—DaniilWhat works: a specific link to the post, a specific figure “15–30%”, CTA with a low barrier (“5 minutes in text”).
Template 2. Agency-pitch for founders
Response rate: 9.8%, 320 sent
Hello [name].
Subscribed to your channel [name] for the last 4 months - the amount of content about X is impressive.
I noticed that the VK community is growing slower than the channel. I have 3 projects in a similar niche with a similar growth structure - I can show in 30 minutes which 2-3 solutions gave +200-400% to VK growth without increasing the budget.
For free. If it’s useful, we’ll continue; if not, we’ll separate.
—DaniilWhat works: long observation (anchoring), a specific proposal (3 projects in a niche), obvious honesty (“if not, we’ll go our separate ways”).
Template 3. Sales-discovery with CMO/Head of Marketing
Response rate: 12.1%, 240 sent
[name], good afternoon.
I saw your position on [company] and publications about [topic].
This quarter I am actively working with teams of 10–30 people on the topic [narrow topic - AI implementation, attribution, performance audit].
I would like to ask - do you have a question on this topic for the next 3-6 months? If yes, I will send a short format of what I usually do in this range (without calling, by text).
—DaniilWhat works: respect-tone (uses “you”), a specific narrow topic, exit-cleanly option (you can answer “no, it’s not worth it”).
Pattern 4. Follow-up after 5–7 days without response
Response rate: 8.5%, 310 sent
[name], wrote last week about [topic].
I understand that Telegram is not the most convenient channel, and messages are lost. If you are interested, I can send you a page in PDF format with what I wrote about, so as not to waste time talking.
If it’s not relevant, write “not now” and I won’t bother you anymore.
—DaniilWhat works: softens the reminder (“I understand”), gives an alternate-format (PDF), gives an opt-out option.
Template 5. Breakup-letter after 2–3 follow-ups
Response rate: 11.8%, 90 sent
[name], wrote a couple of times about [topic].
If there is something in my approach or messages that did not work, briefly tell me what? I'm constantly learning to do outreach better, and any feedback is appreciated.
If it’s just not relevant, that’s fine, then I won’t write anymore. Good luck with [specific mention from public posts].
—DaniilWhat works: paradoxically, a breakup-letter asking for feedback often receives a response. Many people answer “didn’t find the time” or “turns out I don’t remember the messages,” and from there the conversation begins.
Sequence: how to organize a sequence of messages
Standard sequence for 4 touch points in 21 days:
- Day 0: First message using pattern 1, 2 or 3 (depending on ICP)
- Day 5–7: Follow-up using pattern 4 if there was no response
- Day 14: The second follow-up is a different angle of approach. For example, share useful content (article, case study) without a direct CTA
- Day 21: Breakup-letter according to template 5. After - we don’t write for 6 months
The main rule: each subsequent message must be different from the previous one. “I’m writing again” is the main red flag that causes deletion.
What to do to avoid burning out your account
Telegram has implicit limits on cold outreach. Exceeding will block the account for 24–72 hours or result in permaban. Safe parameters:
- No more than 30–40 first messages per day from one account
- No more than 10–15 messages per hour
- Use proxy accounts for large-scale outreach — a separate account for every 50–100 messages per week
- Do not use the same text 100% - vary through {spintax} or Claude to generate semantically similar but textually different messages
- Natural pauses between messages — 2–10 minutes, not a volley
I built my own stack for outreach: n8n + Telegram API + Claude for generating message variations + Google Sheets for the recipient database. More details about n8n scenarios in my article about 10 ready-made recipes.
Metrics to measure
| Metrica | Norm for TG-outreach 2026 |
|---|---|
| Response rate (any response) | 8–15% |
| Positive response rate (ready to discuss) | 3–6% |
| Discovery-call conversion | 35–55% of positive responses |
| Conversion from discovery to client | 15–25% |
| Cost per acquired client (time only) | 8–15 hours per client |
If it’s below normal, the problem is usually one of three things:
- Mismatch ICP. You are writing to the wrong audience. Solved by clarifying the list of recipients
- Weak opener. The first line is not catchy. Solved by rewriting the context binding
- Template value-prop. “I’ll help with marketing” - zero response. Get specific to a measurable result.
Where cold outreach in TG does not work
Objective limitations that need to be understood:
- B2C audience. Cold messages to individuals are almost always perceived as spam. TG-outreach - only for B2B
- C-level in large corporations. The CEO of a company from the top 100 of the Russian Federation rarely reads Telegram messages from strangers. For this segment - LinkedIn, networking events, intros
- Segments with aggressive outreach in a niche. If your niche is already flooded with cold messages (a typical example is fitness clubs, legal services), the response rate drops sharply
- No public page/profile. The recipient checks who is writing. If you don’t have a TG channel, website, or active public presence, the response rate is 2–3x lower
If you are currently building an outbound strategy for your business and want to understand which 5 templates to adapt to your niche, come for a 30-minute discovery. I’ll analyze your current outreach and show you which 2-3 changes will give +50-100% to the response rate in the first month.
