Social proof 2026: reviews, ratings and cases - a real effect on conversion
How reviews, ratings and cases affect conversion in 2026. Benchmarks for e-com, B2B and SaaS: what % each type gives. How to collect, where to post and what formats work best.

Most companies think they need “more reviews.” When I look at their pages, the problem is almost always something else: the wrong format on the wrong page. Forty stars and “highly recommended” in the landing page’s footer is not social proof, it’s furniture.
I tested the placement of social proof on 12 landing pages over the past two years - in e-com, B2B and local service. The numbers in this article are real: from Yandex Metrica, from CRM downloads, from A/B tests with normal statistical significance. Where there was little data, I say this directly.
One specific case “+34% to conversion in 3 months” works better than fifty stars and is “highly recommended.”
1. Types of social proof and their weight
Not all social evidence is equally convincing. Client logos without context are decoration. A rating of 4.7 on Yandex.Maps with 80 reviews is a concrete signal of trust. A quote “I am satisfied” without a name, photo or date is zero.
Here's how different types of social proof impact conversions by segment. The numbers are averaged data from tests and open cases that I collected in 2024-2025:
| Type of social proof | E-com | B2B | SaaS | Local business |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rating + number of reviews (4.5+, from 20 pcs.) | +18-28% | +5-10% | +10-16% | +22-35% |
| Expanded case with numbers | +8-12% | +25-40% | +20-30% | +10-18% |
| Video review (60-90 sec, real client) | +12-20% | +15-22% | +18-25% | +8-14% |
| Client logos (without context) | +2-4% | +8-12% | +6-10% | −2% (does not work) |
| Counter “bought X times” / “N clients” | +10-15% | +3-5% | +7-12% | +6-10% |
| Quote + photo + position/company | +6-10% | +18-28% | +15-20% | +12-18% |
An important nuance from the table: the numbers represent the increase in page conversion compared to the option without social proof. If the page has already converted 4%, then +25% is 5%, not 29%. And this is provided that the evidence is placed correctly, and not dumped in one pile.
2. Where to post: landing page, product page, email
The main mistake I see on nine out of twelve tested landing pages is the testimonial block at the very end of the page, after the “About Us” section, before the footer. On average, 15-25% of visitors reach there. It’s like hanging arguments in favor of a purchase where the person has already either left or pressed the button.
Working logic for placement by page type:
Landing. The first case or quote is immediately after the hero section or after the service description block, before the prices. Logic: a person reads what you offer and immediately sees that it has already worked for others. Before the price block - because a person with doubts “whether it’s worth spending money” should see the proof before, and not after the price list.
e-com product page. Rating - next to the product name and the “buy” button. Detailed reviews are below the description. On mobile, the rating should be visible without scrolling. A test that I saw with one client in the fashion segment: moving the rating block from the product card above the fold gave +14% to additions to the cart.
Email. In the welcome series (2-3 letters after the first touch) - a case of a similar client. Not “look at our reviews,” but a specific story: “Maria, the owner of a coffee shop, increased the average bill by 22% in 6 weeks.” Personalization by segment: B2B client - B2B case, e-com - e-com. Landing page for traffic. If the page is driven by advertising traffic, a social proof block is needed in the first two screens. A cold visitor doesn’t know you, he doesn’t have time to scroll through. One catchy case or “already 1,200 clients” counter works better than a full block of eight reviews at the bottom. 3. How to collect feedback: scripts and triggers
It is not the number of reviews that is important, but their freshness and specificity. Ten reviews this year with dates and details convert better than fifty faceless “thank you!” without time.
The most working mechanic is a two-step request via CRM. Triggers 2-3 days after the transaction is closed or delivery. First step: “Rate how satisfied you are on a scale of 1 to 5.” If the rating is 4-5, we immediately send a link to Yandex.Maps or Google. If it’s 1-3, we transfer it to support, we don’t ask for public feedback. Conversion to public review according to this scheme: 18-25%.
Three more triggers that work:
- QR code on the package or receipt with a direct link to the review form. The conversion is more modest - 6-12% - but it works without CRM.
- Personal message from the manager in TG or WhatsApp in 3-5 days. Not a template, but “Sergey, how did it go?” — conversion of 25-35% for loyal customers.
- Reminder in an email series on the 7th day after purchase. Worse than a personal message, but scalable to a larger base.
You can automate all this through n8n or Make, connected to CRM. Trigger—change of transaction status. Read more about integrating CRM with automation in article about CRM marketing.
4. Cases for B2B: how to write to convince
In B2B, a short review almost doesn’t work. “We have been cooperating since 2021, we are happy with everything” - this is zero information for a potential client who is deciding whether to spend 500,000 rubles on a contractor. He needs to understand: who similar to him has already worked with you and what they got.
Case structure that convinces B2B:
1. Client. Industry, size, task - without violating NDA. “Distributor of building materials, 40 people in the sales department, the task is to shorten the transaction cycle.”
2. Problem before. The specific pain is in the numbers: “Managers spent 3 hours a day on manual data entry, the conversion of leads into deals was 8%.”
3. What did you do? Not “implemented a CRM,” but “set up amoCRM with automatic lead qualification based on 5 criteria, integration with the TG channel for notifications, and a funnel dashboard in Looker Studio.”
4. Result with numbers. “After 3 months: lead conversion increased to 14%, manual entry decreased by 80%, transaction cycle - from 22 to 14 days.”
5. Client quote. One specific proposal from the manager is not “we are happy,” but “for the first time in two years we see where the money really comes from.”
Such a case in the “our projects” block works 3-4 times better than just logos. According to my observations on B2B landing pages, the presence of two or three similar cases increases the conversion to an application by 20-38%. 5. Ratings on Yandex.Maps and 2GIS
For a local business - a cafe, a clinic, a car service center, a salon - a rating on Yandex.Maps is perhaps the most significant social proof of all. A person searches for “dentistry nearby,” sees cards, and compares ratings. A card with 4.2 and 15 reviews loses to a card with 4.7 and 90 reviews - even if your clinic is objectively better.
Critical thresholds that I derived from working with several local clients:
- A rating below 4.0 means the card actually drops out of the local search results.
- 4.0-4.2 - visible, but loses to competitors with 4.5+.
- 4.3-4.5 is normal, but there should be 30+ reviews.
- 4.6+ with 50+ reviews is a competitive advantage.
The last review should not be older than 2-3 months. Yandex.Maps looks at the “freshness” of card activity, including the date of the last review. I've seen a situation where a client had a 4.8 rating with the last review 8 months ago and was losing out to a competitor with a 4.3 but with three reviews in the last week.
The logic is similar on 2GIS, but there is a little less competition for reviews in most niches - getting 50 reviews faster than on Maps.
6. Video reviews
A video review is the most expensive in terms of effort, but also the most convincing type of social proof. It is the most difficult thing to falsify, and users feel it without even formulating it. In tests where a text and video review were placed side by side, the video received 40-60% more clicks.
The main misconception: a video review must be filmed professionally. In fact, “organic reviews” filmed on a phone in real conditions work better than staged ones. A person in an office or at home against a bookshelf is more convincing than an actor in a studio in front of a white backdrop. The staging is read instantly.
Minimum format: 60-90 seconds, three parts - who the client is, what the problem was, what has changed. No script - only short questions before shooting. Ask the client to name a specific number: “the check has increased,” “the refusals have decreased,” “there are 3 hours less manual work per week.”
Where to place: the first screen of the landing page (especially for B2B), the “cases” page, email in the welcome series. Two or three videos are enough on the site - not ten.
7. Mistakes when working with social proof
1. “Genuine reviews” without dates or details. Block with photo and text “Excellent service! I recommend!” - Dec 12, 2023 - this is worse than empty space. It looks like it was custom written. A review is convincing when it contains: a name, a date no older than 6-8 months, a specific situation or figure.
2. Cheating reviews on Yandex.Maps. Yandex can see abnormal patterns: a sharp increase in reviews in a short period of time, texts of the same type, accounts without history. The consequence is a downgrade or blocking of the card. Organic reviews are growing slowly but steadily.
3. Logos without context. The “our clients” page with a grid of 40 company logos is not social proof, it’s a list. For a B2B audience, the logo only works if there is a number or quote next to it. “We work with: Sberbank, Gazprom, Russian Railways” - approx. Just a logo without words - no.
4. All reviews are only positive. If you have a rating of 5.0 out of 5.0, it's not credible - it's suspicious. A normal live rating is 4.3-4.7 with several negative reviews and competent responses to them. Responding to criticism demonstrates the maturity of the business.
5. Reviews are collected once and forgotten. A block of 15 reviews, the last of which is dated 14 months ago, is anti-social evidence. The reader receives a signal: “these guys haven’t worked for a long time or they have nothing to show.” The update schedule is at least once a quarter.
6. Placement in the basement. I’ve already said above, but I’ll repeat: a review block that is seen by only 15-20% of visitors does not affect conversion. Social proof only works where it is visible - next to the CTA or before the price block.
Bottom line
Adding “more reviews” won’t help if they are in the basement and without dates. Move one specific case higher on the page, add a date and number to existing quotes, put a rating next to the button - it works in a day and costs zero rubles. On my projects, minimal placement changes gave +8-14% to conversion without changing traffic.
