Russian Channels 2026: Yandex Direct, VK Ads, Telegram, OK
What works in Russian performance in 2026. Comparison table for CPC, reach and audience type.
The Russian performance landscape in 2026 looks completely different than it did five years ago. Google Ads is gone, Facebook and Instagram are blocked, MyTarget has become a new one VK Ads, and Telegram finally shipped the official account with an entry threshold of €2M and at the same time became the main platform for sponsored placements in the canals. This chapter is a map of the area and a guide to choosing a channel for your niche.
what works in the Russian Federation in April 2026
Four main channels cover 95% of performance tasks: Yandex Direct (search+YAN), VK Ads (VK network+Odnoklassniki+VK projects), Telegram (seeding and official account), Avito (advertising account for services and e-com). Additionally - OK Advertising as a separate account, MyTarget DSP for media and Yandex.Promo pages for the content part of the funnel.
A performance marketer rarely works in one channel. Typical mix on the 2026 project: Direct (search) - 40-50% of the budget, YAN - 15-25%, VK Ads - 15-25%, Telegram - 10-15%, the rest is Avito / content. Specific proportions depend on the niche, audience and measurement method.

Yandex Direct: the main channel for most niches
Direct is two fundamentally different platforms in one office. Search works with hot demand: the user has already written “buy” or “order” - we intercept him 2-3 seconds before he enters the first search results. YAN works with warm and cold traffic on partner sites: news portals, weather sites, forums.
The main mistake of beginners is to focus only on search. The search gives the most expensive, but also the most converting clicks. YAN is 3–5 times cheaper, but the conversion rate is lower. healthy structure: 60–70% of the budget for search (hot demand), 30–40% for YAN (expansion of coverage and retargeting). More details about Direct - in chapter 4.
vk ads: new account, not old mytarget
In 2025, VK finally transferred everyone to the new VK Ads account - the old one MyTarget was closed. The new account works according to the logic of auto-targeting: you load creative, describe the goal, the algorithm itself looks for the audience. Manual target settings remained, but “universal placement” works noticeably better in terms of conversion volume 50+ per month.
VK Ads covers VK, Odnoklassniki, Yula, Zen and VK projects. This gives a huge potential reach, but not every niche is covered. Works well for: Products under impulse, mobile applications, information products, local services with geo-targeting. Bad works: B2B services with high receipts, narrow professional audience, products for an audience of 25 (young people are on Telegram). Deeper - in chapter 5.
telegram: sponsored placements vs official account
Telegram is two different channels under one roof. Official Telegram Ads works through the Swiss TG Sponsored Messages, requires a deposit of €2,000 and holding turnover from €2M (there are ways to enter through an agency with less threshold). Format - a short sponsored message in someone else's channel, a link only to Telegram channel or bot.
Seeds are agreements directly with channel owners or through exchanges like Telega.in, Combot, TGStat. Here you can drive traffic anywhere: landing page, website, bot, any link. The price greatly depends on the topic: a B2B channel charges 1,500–3,000 rubles per 1k views, lifestyle — 200–500 RUB, niche expert — 400–800 RUB. Marking required - ERID is required on every publication. More details in Chapter 6.
Avito: a channel that is often forgotten
Avito has 55M active users per month with purchasing intent “directly” now." Avito's advertising office works for services (repair, construction, tutors, cargo transportation), e-com and real estate. The main advantage is that the audience is already thinking about purchase. The main disadvantage is narrow categorization: if your product does not fit into the tree Avito categories, the tool will not work. Learn more about Avito-marketing in separate blog article.
how to choose a channel for a niche
The basic logic of choice is through the type of demand and behavior of the audience.
- E-commerce FMCG. Direct (search + YAN) - 60%, VK Ads - 30%, retargeting - 10%. We test Telegram and Avito for specific categories.
- Education and information products. Direct Search - 30%, YAN - 20%, VK Ads - 30%, Telegram (seeds from experts in the niche) - 20%.
- B2B services. Direct Search (hot requests) - 50%, content marketing via Y.Promo pages - 20%, LinkedIn Sales Navigator for direct outreach - 30%.
- Local services. Avito - 40%, Direct Search with geo - 30%, VK with geo-target - 20%, OK - 10% (especially if there is an age audience and regions).
- SaaS B2B. Direct Search (narrow queries) - 40%, content - 30%, Telegram channel placements (profile channels) - 20%, ABM outreach - 10%.
channels that do NOT work in the Russian Federation 2026
In order not to waste time: Google Ads directly is not available (you can send it through Turkish and Kazakh accounts, but this is a gray area). Meta (FB+IG) - blocked, any Advertising via VPN bypass is a violation of Russian law. TikTok Ads - for Russians advertisers account is closed. LinkedIn Ads - formally available, but Russian cards do not go through, payment is made through foreign structures. These channels can be used if your business is registered abroad - but this is no longer “Russian performance”.
