ERR
ERR - engagement relative to post reach: (reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ reach × 100%.
ERR — Engagement Rate by Reach, engagement relative to reach. Formula: (reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ post reach × 100%. This is more honest than regular ER by Followers, because it counts the reaction from those who actually saw the post, and not from the entire channel audience, including dead accounts.
Telegram has a good ERR of 20–40%. If it’s above 40%, the content is on point or the audience is very small and involved. Below 10% is a signal that the post either came out at the wrong time or the topic didn’t catch your attention. In VK, the guideline is lower: 5–15% is considered working for commercial pages, more than 20% is an excellent result.
ERR is the main metric that I look at before offering an advertiser placement in a channel. A media kit with a nice number of subscribers means nothing if the ERR is below 5%. I calculate the ERR for the last 30 posts manually or through TGStat - and compare it with the top 20% of channels in the niche, this gives a real benchmark.
Not to be confused with ERR and ER by Followers: the latter divides by the number of followers, not reach. In channels with a large number of inactive subscribers, ER by Followers will be lowered by 3–5 times compared to ERR.
