Aha moment
An Aha moment is the moment when the user first realized the real value of the product and felt: “this is why I need it.”
An Aha moment is not a marketing concept, but a product one. This is the specific second when the user moves from the “I’ll try it” mode to the “it works” mode. After this point, he starts coming back, telling his friends and paying. Before him, he is a candidate for outflow.
In my practice, the Aha moment for SaaS usually occurs 3-7 days after registration - if onboarding is built correctly. If not, the user leaves for 1-2 days without reaching it. According to cohort analyzes I've done for several products, users who reach the Aha moment have 3-4 times better retention at day 90 than those who don't.
Finding the Aha moment in a specific product is a task of analytics, not intuition. You take a cohort of retained users (survived until the 30th day), take a cohort of those who left, and compare what actions the first ones did on days 1–3, and the second ones did not. A statistically significant difference is a candidate for an Aha moment.
A separate topic for marketing: if an Aha moment is found, it needs to be shown in advertising creatives and landing pages. Selling not a function, but the feeling of “at that moment I understood.” In e-com it works as “first result after X hours after application” - specific, measurable, reproducible.
