Perplexity is the most underrated AI marketer tool of 2026. All know ChatGPT, many know Claude. Only a few people know Perplexity, but he decides the task that ChatGPT and Claude are worse at: fast research with real sources.

I've been using Perplexity Pro since fall 2024. On 6 Perplexity projects closes competitor intelligence, audience research and preparation to negotiations. Below are 5 scripts that I actually run using several times a week.

ChatGPT writes texts. Claude analyzes the documents. Perplexity looks for answers on the real Internet and provides links. If you still Google in tabs - you lose an hour a day on what Perplexity does it in 30 seconds.

1. What is Perplexity and why pay $20

Perplexity is an AI search engine. Not a chatbot that sometimes searches in the Internet, but a search engine that works as an AI assistant. you you ask a question, Perplexity builds a search plan, collects data, compares sources, produces a structured answer with quotes.

Free version - 5 Pro Search every 4 hours. Basic version faster, but works worse with complex queries. Pro ($20/month) gives: unlimited Pro Search, file uploads, Spaces, Collections, model selection.

The main difference from Google: Perplexity does not show 10 links, from which you yourself collect the answer. It shows the answer and confirmation links. Time from request to response: 30-60 seconds instead of 5-15 minutes of manual collection.

I wrote about a comparison of Perplexity with Gemini Deep Research in Gemini guide for marketers. In short: Perplexity is faster, Gemini is deeper.

2. Scenario 1: Competitor intelligence in 3 minutes

Query: “Compare pricing of models [competitor 1], [competitor 2] and [competitor 3] in the [niche] segment. Highlight key differences, target everyone’s audience, weak points.” Perplexity opens 10-15 pages, collects data, produces a comparison table.

On one project, I collected an analysis of 7 competitors in 20 minutes. Manual collection via Google would take 2-3 hours. Perplexity found 3 pricing pages that I would have skipped - they were not in the top results, and on the 3rd page of results.

3. Scenario 2: Audience Research

Perplexity collects “audience pain” well: reviews from forums, comments from social networks, discussions on vc.ru and Habr. Request: “What users write about problems with [product/service] on forums, on social networks and review sites in 2025-2026?”

Perplexity doesn't just find reviews—it groups them into patterns. Result: 5-7 pains with quotes and links. Goes straight into the content plan. This is how EZ KATKA collected the pains of fitness club clients - 6 key ones those in 10 minutes.

4. Scenario 3: Monitoring mentions through Collections

Collections - search query folders. Create a Collection by competitor, add 5-10 queries: “news [company] 2026”, “[product] reviews”, “[CEO] interview”. Every new search added to the collection.

Perplexity does the weekly digest for you. Opening Collection on Friday - see what has changed during the week. Not full-fledged monitoring like Brand Analytics, but for quick cut - normal. And free (as part of a subscription).

5. Scenario 4: Preparing for negotiations

Request: “Prepare a profile of the company [name]: key products, latest news, finance, competitors, CEO, mentions in the press for 2025-2026." Perplexity collects a dossier in 2-3 minutes.

Before a call with a client or partner, I run such a request and I know maximum context in 5 minutes. Clients notice when you're in keep up to date with their latest news. I collected dossiers for 6 projects like this before strategic sessions - every time Perplexity found something What did I miss in my manual search?

6. Scenario 5: Fact-checking copywriting

You’ve written an article with facts and figures – run it through Perplexity. Upload the text (Pro supports .md and .txt uploads) and ask check the facts. Perplexity verifies claims against sources.

It's better than asking ChatGPT to check your own data - ChatGPT can confirm a fact that does not exist. Perplexity gives link to the source. On my blog Perplexity caught 3 errors in monthly figures - one was about CPL, where I mixed up the calculation.

7. Limitations of Perplexity

Perplexity is not a panacea. That's what he does poorly.

1. Deep analysis. Perplexity collects surface data. For deep research you need Gemini Deep Research.

2. Working with Russian. Perplexity searches worse Russian-language sources, especially non-top ones. Russian forums, regional sites - may be missed.

3. Hallucinations. It happens that Perplexity is wrong interprets the source. Always check referenced citations.

4. No API for automation. Perplexity is not connects to n8n or Make. Manual mode only.

If you need AI automation of research tasks, look away n8n scenarios or Gemini API. If you need to quickly collect data on a competitor - Perplexity is the best.

8. Conclusion

Perplexity Pro ($20/month) is the best AI tool for research tasks. Not a replacement for ChatGPT, but an addition. ChatGPT writes, Perplexity is looking. In my stack, Perplexity is the first step of any research. 5 minutes - and you have a structured digest on the topic with sources.
