ChatGPT for marketers 2026: 30 tasks that really speed up your work
How to use ChatGPT in the real work of a marketer: copywriting, analysis, briefs, audience segmentation. 30 tasks with prompts from practice, time-saving benchmarks.

80% of marketers use ChatGPT for exactly one thing: “write me a post.” And they miss out on 90% of the real value of the tool. Not because they are lazy - it’s just that no one has shown what else they can do without turning into an “AI transformation” of the company.
I run 8+ projects in parallel - from performance campaigns to content strategies for B2B. ChatGPT lives in my work process not as a “smart search engine”, but as a tool with specific tasks and measurable output. The numbers in the article are from the practice of the last six months, not from other people’s case studies.
ChatGPT is not a copywriter. ChatGPT is a junior analyst who works at 3 am without complaints, does not ask for a raise and does not forget deadlines. The marketer’s task is to learn how to assign tasks to him correctly, and not to admire the fact that he “also knows how to write.”
1. Copywriting is not “write a post”, but a conveyor of drafts
The key word is draft. ChatGPT writes the first version in 30 seconds, and you edit for 10 minutes instead of starting from scratch for 40 minutes. This is not “magic”, it’s simple mathematics: draft → editing is faster than creating from scratch.
But “write a post” is the most useless prompt. The working format looks like this: “Write a post for a TG channel about [product/service], the audience is [who they are], the main fear of the audience is [specific], the format is 4 paragraphs, the last one is a call to sign up for a consultation, without a corporate tone.” The difference in result is multiple.
In practice, I templated prompts for each type of content: email newsletter, TG post, card for VK, description for the marketplace. Each template took 20 minutes to create. Savings per month - about 8 hours of pure time.
What works worse than it seems: long reads “turnkey”. ChatGPT writes smoothly but predictably. For content where the author's voice is important, it provides a good framework - structure, subheadings, key points. The final text still needs to be rewritten in living language.
2. Competitor analysis - faster than manually
Analyzing competitors manually is 3-4 hours of boring work: open 15 websites, write out the USP, compare positioning, find weak points. ChatGPT does not replace full competitive analysis, but completes primary intelligence in 20 minutes.
Scheme: I insert texts from competitors’ websites (or their structure, if the texts are long) and ask: “Compare the positioning of these 5 companies: what USP does each have, what audience do they address, what fears do they cover, what do they not say (communication gaps).” The output is a table with a ready-made structure for the strategic brief.
Limitation: ChatGPT does not see competitors’ advertising accounts and does not know their real CPL and ROAS. For this you need specialized tools — SimilarWeb, SpyWords, VK advertising library. ChatGPT is good at processing the data you give it, but it doesn’t mine it itself.
3. Briefing contractors - from scratch to document in 15 minutes
Writing a brief for a designer, copywriter or developer is a typical marketer task that no one likes. There are too many details, it’s easy to miss something, and then you get “not what I meant.”
The prompt I use is: “Make a brief for the designer for [type of material]. Client: [niche]. Audience: [description]. Purpose of the material: [specific]. Key message: [wording]. Technical requirements: [formats, sizes]. Add a section “what you definitely don’t need” with 3-4 points.” ChatGPT generates a structured document, which I modify in 5 minutes for a specific project.
Saving isn't just about writing time. A good brief reduces the number of iterations with the contractor by 40-60%. On a project with active content production, this means 2-3 hours less editing per week.
More details about prompts for different types of tasks can be found in a separate guide on prompt for a marketer.
4. Audience segmentation - description in table
Classic problem: you have an “intuition” about the audience, but there is no structured description of segments for setting up campaigns or writing personalized texts. ChatGPT is excellent at converting a vague description into a working matrix.
Prompt: “Divide the audience [of the product] into 4-5 segments. For everyone: age, income, the main problem that the product solves, the main fear/objection, the wording of the offer for this segment, the best communication channel.” The output is a table that can be directly used in the media plan.
This works not instead of real customer research, but before it. If you don’t have a budget for interviews or surveys, ChatGPT gives you a starting hypothesis of segments. Then you check it through tests. On 3 out of 5 projects, ChatGPT hypotheses coincided with real data by 60-70% - enough for the first launch of the campaign.
5. SEO tasks - semantics, structure, meta tags
ChatGPT does not replace Wordstat and Key Collector for collecting semantics - it does not have up-to-date frequency data. But it covers several tasks that Wordstat does not do at all.
What is really useful for SEO: clustering already collected semantics (you give 200 keys - you get a breakdown into groups), generating an article structure for a cluster (h2, h3, questions for FAQ), writing title and description for 20-30 pages at once (a prompt template with variables - and you close the entire catalog in an hour). The latter is especially true for online stores with a large catalogue.
An example of a prompt for meta tags: “Write title (50-60 characters) and description (150-160 characters) for the category page [title]. Key words: [list]. Main USP: [wording]. Region: Moscow." Produces working options that rarely require more than minor edits.

6. 30 tasks of a marketer - time-saving benchmarks
Collected real problems from practice with time estimates before and after ChatGPT. The numbers are the median of my projects, not an “optimistic scenario”.
| Problem | Time without AI | Time with ChatGPT | Prompt template (briefly) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Draft email newsletter | 45 min | 12 min | “Email for [segment], subject – [offer], CTA – [action], tone – [style]” |
| Brief for designer | 40 min | 15 min | “Brief for [type], audience [who], purpose [what], what is definitely not needed" |
| Primary analysis of competitors (5 sites) | 3.5 h | 45 min | “Compare positioning, USP, communication gaps” |
| Landing page structure (h1, sections, CTA) | 60 min | 20 min | “Landing structure for [product], audience [who], 7-8 sections” |
| Audience segmentation (4-5 segments) | 2 hours | 25 min | “4 segments: age, problem, fear, offer, channel” |
| Title + description for 20 pages | 2.5 h | 40 min | “Title 55 characters + description 155 characters, keys: [list]” |
| Clustering 200 keywords | 3 hours | 30 min | “Divide into semantic clusters, give each one a name” |
| Article structure for a search query | 45 min | 10 min | “Article structure for key [query]: h2, h3, FAQ” |
| Replies to reviews (templates × 10) | 90 min | 20 min | “10 Response Patterns to [Review Type], Tone – [Brand Style]” |
| Offer for an ad (5 options) | 30 min | 8 min | “5 ad title options, main fear [wording]” |
| Content plan for a month (20 topics) | 2 hours | 25 min | “20 topics for [channel], audience [who], goals [reach/leads/retention]" |
| FAQ for the site (10-15 questions) | 90 min | 20 min | “15 questions for [niche], including objections before purchasing” |
| Transcription and structure of the podcast | 3 hours | 40 min | “Make a structured summary from this transcription + 5 theses” |
| Campaign summary report (draft) | 2.5 h | 35 min | “Data report [insert table]: conclusions, what worked and what didn’t” |
| Product description for marketplace | 40 min | 10 min | “Description for [platform], characteristics: [list], keys: [list]” |
According to this table, the average savings is 65-70% of time per task. For 15 tasks per week, this is about 8-10 hours. In reality, less: not all tasks are repeated every week, and the first iterations with a new type of prompt eat up time.
7. Reports and analytics - interpretation of data, not collection of it
ChatGPT does not know how to connect to Metrica or Direct and pull out data on its own. But he interprets the data you give him very well. This is a fundamental distinction.
Working scenario: you upload data from your account to CSV or copy the table, paste it into the chat and write: “Here is the campaign data for the month. Find anomalies, compare indicators with the previous period, formulate 3 conclusions and 2 recommendations for the next launch.” The output is a draft of the analytical block of the report. Rarely requires major editing.
For marketers who manage multiple accounts, this is critical: Instead of spending an hour writing “what happened,” spend 10 minutes validating the findings and adding your own context. If you want to automate this process completely, it’s possible through n8n, I discussed the scenarios in the article about marketing automation via n8n.
8. Three errors due to which ChatGPT “does not work”
1. The task is too vague. “Help with marketing” is not a task. “Write 3 headline options for an advertisement in Yandex Direct, niche - legal services for individual entrepreneurs, the main fear of the audience is losing money on taxes, headline limit - 56 characters” - work assignment. The more precise the context, the fewer iterations to get the desired result. I spend 2-3 minutes writing a good prompt - and then don’t redo it 4 times.
2. Use without verification of facts. ChatGPT confidently names numbers that don't exist. It is especially dangerous in reports for clients and in SEO texts with specific data. Rule of thumb: Any number ChatGPT cites as “research based” or “market average” needs to be verified. Real data from your CRM and Metrics is always more reliable.
3. An attempt to replace strategic thinking. ChatGPT is good at solving problems with a clear correct answer. Strategy is a task without a correct answer, where the context of a specific business, the history of relationships with the client base, and positioning relative to competitors are important. Using ChatGPT to generate strategic hypotheses is fine. Accepting his conclusion as a ready-made strategy is not.
Conclusion
ChatGPT speeds up the marketer not because it is “smart”, but because it covers repetitive tasks with a predictable structure. Copywriting, briefs, competitor analysis, SEO texts, segmentation - all this can be done 3-5 times faster with good prompts. Not “much faster”, but specifically: 45 minutes instead of 3 hours, 8 minutes instead of 30.
Getting started is easier than it seems: take one task from the list above that you do every week, spend 20 minutes creating a prompt template, and check it next week. If it doesn't work on the first try, clarify the prompt rather than throw away the tool.
