Client Interview Questions

A customized guide for your task: questions that ask about past behavior rather than future intentions, plus a list of language to avoid.

Briefly

The answer to the question “would you buy this” is worthless: people are sincerely mistaken in their predictions about themselves. Value is given by past behavior: what a person did, how much he paid, what he uses now. The tool collects a guide where questions are directed to the past, and separately lists wording that spoils the answer.

AI answers are free, but limited by the overall site limit. If the limit is reached, come back later: repeated clicks will not speed up the response.

Fill in: what do you want to find out?, product or idea

People are honestly wrong when they predict their behavior.

The main trap of Kastdev is not in the lies of the interlocutor, but in his sincerity. A person really believes that he would buy it, that he would use it every day, and that he lacks this particular function. Everyone makes bad predictions about themselves, and confirmation of the hypothesis, collected from such answers, is worth less than nothing: it gives false confidence.

The only reliable source is past behavior. What did the person do the last time they encountered a problem? How much did you spend? What he uses now and what irritates him about it. These responses are verifiable and do not rely on politeness.

Hence the structure of the guide: questions are directed to the past, money is clarified through expenses already committed, and a separate section contains formulations that should be avoided. The last section is often more useful than the questions themselves, because it’s easier to ruin an interview than to conduct one.

What the tool intentionally doesn't do

Does not insert numbers, deadlines, benchmarks and names of companies that did not exist in your input. If the output requires a number that you did not provide, in the answer will be marked “to clarify” rather than a plausible number. This limitation is worth in the system prompt and works against the main property of language models: It’s difficult to complete what’s missing.

The request text is sent to the AI provider, and the response is returned to the browser. The site does not save these texts in the database. To limit expenses separately the number of requests and the anonymized connection identifier are taken into account. If the free limit is reached, the tool will offer to come back later.

Questions

How many interviews do you need to conduct?
Typically, patterns begin to repeat themselves after five to eight conversations with one type of interlocutor. If after eight you hear something new every time, most likely you are talking to different segments and they need to be separated.
Is it possible to tell about your product at the beginning?
Better not. As soon as a person understands that you are the author, he begins to spare your feelings and tailor your answers. Showing the product makes sense at the very end, in a separate block, when facts about past behavior have already been collected.
Is this good for lapsed customers?
Yes, and this is often the most valuable conversation. Indicate in the field who you are talking to: the guide for a departing client is built around the moment of the decision to leave and what he uses now.
