Webvisor

Webvisor · session recording · session recording · Yandex Webvisor

Webvisor is a Yandex Metrica tool for recording user sessions: literally a video of how a person walked around the site.

Webvisor is a Yandex Metrics module that records mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and text input of each user in the form of a played video. Free, built into Metrica, works without additional scripts. The functionality corresponds to the paid Hotjar for tasks related to the RU audience.

I use Webvisor to debug conversion problems on landing pages. Standard scenario: CTR is good, there is traffic, but there are no applications. I open Webvisor, filter sessions by the segment “came in, but didn’t leave a request, spent >30 seconds.” I look at 20–30 entries. After 15 minutes, it’s clear: either the form is not sent on mobile, or users are lost at the step of selecting a service, or the phone number in the header is not clickable.

Webvisor is especially useful for analyzing failures on long forms. You can see on which field the person stops and leaves. Classic - the required field “TIN” or “OGRN” scares off 40% of potential leads even at the filling out stage.

Limitation: Webvisor does not write data in blurred fields (passwords, card data), and also does not work well on SPA applications without configuration. If the site is based on React/Vue without server rendering, you need additional configuration of events via the Metrica API.
