Yandex Maps and 2GIS audit: a regional location checklist

A regional guide to auditing Yandex Maps and 2GIS listings, location pages, reviews, and inquiries. For businesses serving markets where these platforms matter.

Article cover: Yandex Maps and 2GIS audit: a regional location checklist

1. Confirm regional relevance and the customer journey

Yandex Maps and 2GIS are regional discovery platforms, not default substitutes for Google Business Profile in the United States or Canada. Use this audit when your business serves a market where customers actually rely on them. Confirm relevance through customer interviews and existing referral data before assigning a team to maintain another listing.

Then follow one real customer journey on a phone. Find a service, attempt to book, and locate the entrance. Common obstacles are mundane: an old phone number, prices from another branch, or a courtyard entrance with no useful photo. Record the exact journey rather than treating all listing clicks as equivalent. Someone looking for an open store needs different information from someone comparing a specialist service.

2. Reconcile business facts across listings

Create a reference record for each location: business name, street address, entrance coordinates, phone, hours, categories, services, and destination URL. Compare it with both listings and the website. The name should identify the real business. Filling it with keywords can make recognition harder and raises questions about the accuracy of the listing. Formatting differences are less urgent than a number that reaches a closed branch.

2GIS supports corrections through the listing and business account, with information subject to review. In Yandex Business, monitor changes and account access. A submitted correction is not proof that the public listing changed. Reopen the customer-facing record and capture the result. Review holiday hours separately before the relevant date.

3. Connect the listing to a useful location page

The listing destination should continue the journey already started. A visitor interested in one location should not have to rediscover it from a generic homepage. A useful location page includes verified contacts, access instructions, booking conditions, available services, and actual photographs. If a service is unavailable at that branch, state that clearly.

For a network, avoid treating city-name replacement as a content strategy. Explain real differences such as equipment, staff, opening hours, parking, and accessibility. Where locations have little distinct information, a shared directory with a clear selector may serve visitors better than dozens of nearly identical pages. Check that the listing, website, and staff response describe the same booking conditions.

4. Turn review themes into service changes

Build a review sample that is appropriate to analyze, excluding unnecessary personal details. Label reasons to choose the business, recurring obstacles, and promises customers expected it to keep. The review analysis tool groups themes in text you provide. It does not automatically retrieve every review or verify whether an individual account is accurate. A responsible employee still investigates disputed events.

When customers repeatedly miss the entrance, improve the photo and directions. When they mention unexpected charges, compare the published price with the booking conversation. A public response should explain a practical next step without exposing private customer information. Yandex's rating is not a simple arithmetic average, so avoid pretending that a spreadsheet can forecast its exact movement.

5. Measure inquiries without inventing visits

Illustrative example: a listing produces 100 tagged website visits in a month and eight tracked inquiry forms. That observed route converts at 8%. The listing also reports twenty phone-button taps. Those taps are not twenty completed conversations or twenty store visits. Calls and attended appointments need their own verification.

Use the same reporting period and inquiry definition across platforms. Remove duplicates where a lawful, reliable matching process exists. Do not add route requests and form submissions together and call the total sales. UTM parameters help identify a website referral, but they cannot reveal the full offline journey. Keep an unknown-source category instead of filling gaps with an arbitrary allocation that makes the dashboard look complete.

6. Give each correction an owner

Prioritize problems by their effect on the customer. An incorrect phone number or locked entrance comes before a new cover image. Give each issue an owner, deadline, and completion evidence. Location staff verify hours, marketing checks descriptions and links, and the website owner tests the destination and inquiry form. An unassigned task called improve local SEO rarely gets resolved.

Repeat the review after a move, service change, or holiday schedule update. Include recent review themes and verified inquiries in the monthly check. The downloadable worksheet supports one location; add a location identifier for a network. The multi-location marketing guide explains how to divide responsibilities without allowing basic factual details to drift between central and local teams.

Frequently asked questions

Does consistent business information guarantee higher rankings?

No. Reconciliation prevents factual errors and reduces friction. It cannot guarantee a position, which varies with the query, location, and other factors.

Should a North American company maintain these listings?

Only when there is evidence that its customers use them in the market served. This is a regional operating guide, not a recommendation to add every available directory.
