AI video generation 2026: comparison of Veo 3.1, Kling 2.0, HeyGen 4, Sora Turbo - prices and quality
Comparison of 4 AI video generators 2026: Veo 3.1 from Google (.10-0.50/sec) for branded content, Kling 2.0 for social networks (.02-0.10/sec), HeyGen 4 for avatar video (/month), Sora Turbo (/month). Test of 47 videos, table of tasks and prices, availability in the Russian Federation.

In 2025, everyone wrote “AI video will change marketing”, but no one said how much does it cost, which tool for which task and does it work? generally in Russia. During Q1 2026, I ran 47 videos through four systems. The numbers are below.
I've been working with AI tools since 2024. On my current AI video projects closes content for the TG channel, advertising creatives on VK and test ones bundles for Yandex Direct. The numbers in the article are my direct costs, prompts and results. No assumptions.
AI video generation in 2026 is not a “replacement for a videographer.” This is a replacement poor quality: when the budget for a reels is 0 rubles, and every post is needed day. AI makes content that has never been done before, because it was expensive.
1. AI video market in 2026: who is alive and who is not
In two years, the AI video market has cleared up. Runway went to enterprise, Pika - in design tools, Stability AI is in question. Real players there are four left for business. I tested everything. Below is a table according to mine measurements for January-April 2026.
| Tool | Price per second | Max. length | Access to the Russian Federation | Strength |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 | $0.10-0.50 | 60 sec | Through foreign acc. | Traffic control, brand content |
| Kling 2.0 | $0.02-0.10 | 30 sec | Yes, web | Price, speed, social networks |
| HeyGen 4 | $30-120/month | up to 10 min | Via VPN | Avatar lip sync |
| Sora Turbo | $20-200/month | 60 sec | Via VPN | Physics, image-to-video quality |
Two important details that are not visible from the table. The first is speed. generation. Kling produces a 5-10 second video in 1-2 minutes. Veo - for 5-10 minutes. Sora - unpredictable, from 2 to 15 minutes. Second - consistency. Veo consistently maintains brand colors and logos. Kling can “reimagine” the subject in the frame. If you need it in the video brand control - only Veo.
2. Veo 3.1: when quality is more important than budget
Google has invested serious resources into Veo. The model understands physics: water flows like water, fabric folds like fabric. This is important for advertising where a fake AI video is immediately noticeable.
I did a Veo pre-roll for a client in the fitness niche. Budget: 15 seconds + 3 iterations = ~$7.50. Stock video equivalent - $80-150 for a license, plus installation. There is almost no difference in quality. The lead conversion rate with this pre-roll was 3.2% versus 2.8% for the regular one. static creative. The increase is modest, but it is there.
Main limitations: Veo does not generate close-up faces well (there are artifacts) and works unstable with text in the frame. That is, draw “30% discount” on a black background is normal. But make a video with the presenter's face, which speaks into the camera - no. For this HeyGen.
I wrote in detail about Veo prompts and limitations in separate guide.
3. Kling 2.0: a working tool for the content plan
Kling is a Chinese development, available from Russia. Web interface without VPN. Basic functionality is free: 10-30 generations per day with a limitation. Paid - from $10/month for 500 generations.
Kling's quality has improved significantly over the year. If the first version gave “soap” videos with unnatural movement, then 2.0 pulls 4K and stable 30 FPS. It doesn’t live up to Veo – it loses in water physics, hair, complex textures. But for reels, clips and Stories it’s ok.
On my project, Kling closes regular content for the TG channel: 3-4 short videos per week, 5-7 seconds each. Monthly budget for generation - $20-30. For comparison: ordering the same videos from freelancer - from 5,000 rubles per one, and the terms are 2-3 days. AI does it for you 10 minutes.
4. HeyGen 4: the only one who makes avatar videos adequately
HeyGen is when AI is needed not for generating a picture, but for a video with person. You upload a photo or recording of the presenter, write text, AI generates a video where the avatar speaks in lip sync.
Version 4 added emotions to the voice: now the avatar does not just read the text with the same intonation, and can smile, frown, pause. Lip sync quality is 85-90%. At a quick glance it seems that the person was recorded on camera. When viewed in detail, micro-discrepancies are visible.
HeyGen starts at $30/month. If you need 1-2 videos per month for mailing or presentations - pay. If 30+ - consider: on my volume it goes away $120/month for business plan. Still cheaper than hiring an operator for one shooting day from 15,000 rub.
5. Sora Turbo: marketing faster than the product
Sora is the most hyped AI video model. OpenAI showed a demo back in 2024, the people were waiting for a revolution. Reality: Sora works, but unevenly.
What it does well: understands physics and generates scenes with natural movement of objects. 60 seconds of continuous video - unique, none of the competitors gives so much. Ratio quality/price for long rollers is the best on the market.
What's bad: instability. Out of 10 generations I had 3-4 with artifacts - objects changed shape, textures “floated”, colors were confused. For mood videos or placeholder creatives - ok, for branded ones content is a risk.
Availability in the Russian Federation: you need a foreign OpenAI account with a foreign card. It doesn't work directly from Russia. $20/month for Plus, Sora generation according to limits.
6. Comparison by business tasks: which tool to take
Below is a table of specific use cases. I don't give general ratings, they are useless. The result depends on what you do.
| Problem | Best | Budget per video | Generation time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-roll for YouTube (15 sec) | Veo 3.1 | $1.50-7.50 | 5-10 min |
| Reels/VK Clips | Kling 2.0 | $0.30-1.50 | 1-2 min |
| Avatar video with announcer | HeyGen 4 | $30-120/month | 3-5 min |
| Mood video / experiments | Sora Turbo | $20/month | 2-15 min |
| Advertising creative for TG | Kling 2.0 | $0.30-1.00 | 1-2 min |
| Product video with product | Veo 3.1 | $3.00-15.00 | 5-15 min |
The main principle I learned during the quarter: do not use one a tool for everything. Veo and Kling work in parallel for me. Veo - for YouTube pre-rolls and branded content. Kling - under mass conveyor for social networks. More broadly, AI video is just part of the pipeline. An alternative is to assemble the entire team from AI tools, as I described in material about replacing 5 roles.
7. Availability in Russia: what really works
For the Russian Federation this is a separate headache. Veo - via Google Cloud with non-Russian billing. Sora - via OpenAI with a foreign map. HeyGen - via VPN, registration takes place. Kling - no restrictions, via the web.
My experience: for regular work in the Russian Federation, the Kling + HeyGen combination is optimal. Kling - for content, HeyGen - for recording video presentations and newsletters. Veo and Sora - additional, for specific tasks with quality control. Full stack of AI tools I use I collected in comparison April 2026.
8. Three mistakes I made on AI video
1. I tried to make an AI video for a brand book. Veo not keeps brand colors stable. The logo in the frame may be distorted font - swim. Solution: I generate background and movements, text and logo I add it in the editor.
2. Saved on the prompt - got garbage. Prompt “make a video about the gym” produces a generic image. Prompt "man" A 30-year-old man in a black T-shirt does a bench press in a gym with gray walls, camera zooms in slowly, natural light" - already a video, which can be placed. Spend as much time on prompts as creativity. I wrote about this in detail in an article about prompts for a marketer.
3. Forgot about the sound. AI video is just a picture. Without sound, announcer's voice or background music, the video looks unfinished. I add an audio track to any generation via ElevenLabs or CapCut. Total production time: AI video 5 minutes + audio 3 minutes + editing 10 minutes = 18 minutes per video.
9. Conclusion
AI video generation in 2026 is not hype, but a working tool with specific restrictions. Veo is the best in quality, Kling is the best in availability in the Russian Federation and price, HeyGen is the only option for avatar video. Sora - we are waiting. Choose not the “best tool”, but tool for your task. Test on 3-5 videos. Count time and money.
